Birdseed Toss - DIY Wedding Project

This totally adorable idea is from Ellie at the Mint blog. She came up with an idea to do something a little bit like the rice toss - but something that’s green and a little more eco-friendly (and will make all the birdies happy). She wasn’t into the idea of bubbles either and came up with a birdseed toss for guests to throw at the happy couple.

DIY Wedding Ideas - Birdseed Toss

This looks to be an easy, simple project that you can do yourself. You don’t even new to stitch the top like she does - you could get away with stapling a folded up paper over the top, use wax to seal up the backs of the envelopes, or use a ribbon punch and pretty ribbons to tie off the top. There are many ways to execute this idea, so make it your own for your own wedding. See the details and get a template of the project over at the Mint blog.

Beating the Summer Heat…

Having a summer wedding is always a good idea, but figuring out a way to keep guests cool during your wedding is quite another idea.  If you’re lucky enough to have a canopy or tent to provide shade for your guests, providing cooling devices won’t be necessary.  However, if you do not here are some suggestions to help keep guests cool at your wedding and also add a nice touch to the decor.

Parasols:
You could provide rice paper parasols to your guests as favors.  They’re eco-friendly, simple and classy.  Pamela’s Parasols is a good website to check out for such favors. They offer a wide variety of styles to choose from and can also custom make parasols to fit the theme of your wedding.

Fans:
Another nice touch would be to provide paper fans to your guests.  They are a nice touch and make unique favors.  You could even use them as an invitation.  Many online companies offer custom made paper fans, you could have your wedding invitation printed on the fan, just remember to remind guests to bring the invitation to the ceremony to use during and after.  Here are a few websites that provide custom and as is fans:

DIY Wedding Guide

Looking for party favors that will wow everyone? Then join the newest environmentally friendly craze, and do-it-yourself! It’ll give a warm, personal sentiment to your wedding, and make all your guests feel extra special. And, best of all, it’s very green way to do things these days, instead of adding to the problem and buying from the polluting factories, you’ll be shrinking that global imprint we’re all so conscious of these days. If you’re looking for ideas, here are a few websites that’ll help get you started: craft.com, etsy.com, and makezine.com.

If you’re like so many of us out there, and you’d love to make your favors, but just don’t have the time, don’t despair! There are still plenty of places to get hand made crafts! You could go to a local craft show, and if you find someone’s work you like, you could ask them if they do special orders. Most people do! Or you could go to on-line craft stores! Etsy.com, is my favorite, and has a lot of different searching options! You can search my color, or key words!

Your wedding should be personal and meaningful, and there’s no better way to start down that path then hand made favors! So, get out there and craft!
