San Diego Wedding - Bridesmaid 101 - Bridesmaids Shoes

Shoes: What Kind of Shoes to Wear...

Today, you will be on your feet more than ever, tending to the bride's every need. (Of course, there will also be some dancing!) Makes sure the shoes you choose for this night are, not only beautiful, but comfortable as well.

Here are some tips for choosing the perfect shoe:
- Choose a heel height appropriate to your size and that you are comfortable wearing

- Make sure the shoe is consistent with the style of the gown and the type of wedding. Don't go looking for metallic, glittery, high-heeled shoes if the wedding is a beach affair.

- Break in your shoes before the wedding day. Wear them to all dress fittings so you get used to them and so the dress will be hemmed to just the right length as well.

- Unless you plan on wearing the shoes for other occasions, find comfortable, inexpensive shoes you won't mind forgetting after the wedding day.

- If the shoes need to be dyed to match the dress, keep in mind the color will vary in different types of light. Make sure to have a large enough piece of fabric (at least 2"x2") for color matching and that the final dye has been tested under a light box. This will ensure an accurate color match.

San Diego Wedding - Bridesmaid 101 - Bridesmaid Duties

Bridesmaid Duties...

Being chosen as a bridesmaid can be exciting. But, besides helping plan the bridal shower and bachelorette party, what exactly are you supposed to do?

The following are just a few suggestions to get you started:
- If the invitations need to be hand-addressed, volunteer your penmanship to reduce the load from the bride or family.

- Sometimes the groom is not interested in going through the process of registering for gifts, it is a great opportunity for you to accompany the bride in choosing the gifts she would like to receive.

- Help the bride with the seating arrangements. Draw out the tables and move the seats around until she has come to the perfect setting. Be sure to bring the finalized chart on the wedding day just in case there are any mix-ups.
