Eco-Friendly Wedding Rings/Bands...
Are you looking for a not-your-average type of wedding ring? Are you looking for something a bit more eco-friendly and socially conscious (staying away from the blood diamonds maybe)? Here are a few offbeat choices to consider when looking for your wedding bands.

Offbeat Wedding Band Designs
The rings from Relish come in a variety of non-traditional designs. Many of the rings featured here are made from stainless steel instead of your traditional gold or silver metals (though they do have a few gold offerings).

Wooden Rings and Bands
Simply Wood Rings offers rings created from salvaged lumber or found wood. Touch Wood Rings are custom designed wooden rings tailored for each couple. Wood rings are an alternative to gems and mining and are eco-friendly.
Not quite ready for all wood version? Try Wood Rings for stylish silver or white gold rings that have wood as an element of the ring’s design.

Tungsten Wedding Bands
Tungsten carbide is a hard, durable metal that is not easily scratched and is very wear-resistant . Tungsten carbide is often used in machine tools (like cutting tools) or armor-piercing ammunition. Tungsten World offers a number of wedding bands with different styles or inlays. Tungsten Pride also offers up Tungsten rings in a number of shapes, inlays and finishes.

Go Local Food...
Support your local area farms and producers by going local for your wedding food. LocalHarvest offers the ability to search for farmers’ markets, family farms, local restaurants, grocery and co-cops to help you find local resources of sustainably grown food in San Diego. Slow Food San Diego also offers a variety of resources to help you find local food suppliers in San Diego. You can also check out a blog called “Livin’ La Vida Local” for more San Diego local food resources. The blog also offers a list of San Diego restaurants and caterers that are committed to the local food effort.

Flower Un-Arrangements...

Grow Flowers
Ask friends and family to grow and bring flowers for the reception, or to buy flowers from a local farmer’s market. Provide a variety of vases that guests can also take home with them (search local thrift stores for old vases and glass containers) as centerpieces at the reception. You may want to have another friend collect the flowers at the ceremony and transport them to the reception for setup.

Paper Flowers
You could also cut out the flowers completely for the reception by doing tissue paper flowers, if you want to be that kitschy. Martha Stewart Weddings has some ideas on making paper flower and there’s also an article at eHow.com on how to make paper flower bouquets.
