San Diego Wedding Insider - Bridesmaid Planning 101

You have been especially selected by the bride to be an honored member of her wedding party as well as her special assistant on the most cherished day of her life!

The San Diego Wedding Insider knows how important this role can be, so in helping you accomplish your designated tasks we’ve gathered priceless and creative information that will be of great use on your path to becoming the perfect Bridesmaid.

The Perfect Speech...
As the Maid of Honor you probably think that giving the obligatory speech is the most dreadful part of the whole night, but armed with the following tips you'll be the most articulate and classy 'speech-giver' a bride has every seen.

Writing the Maid of Honor Speech
{1} Before writing your Maid of Honor speech think of a theme that reflects both the bride and the groom. For example, do they both like food? compare them to a favorite dish or particular food item. This will keep your speech focused and on track.
{2} Make sure to start writing your Maid of Honor speech a month in advance, this will give you sufficient time to read and re-read it and make changes if needed. If necessary, read your Maid of Honor speech to your fellow bridesmaids and have them give their input
{3} Remember to wish for great things to come, good fortune. Don't just go on about the college years and all the great parties you went to. Ask family members and other friends about plans they know the newlyweds may have and incorporate those plans into your sentiments.

Giving the Maid of Honor Speech
{1} Although everyone's eyes are on you don't be to conscience about what they might be thinking. Take a deep breath, take a small drink, of water preferrably, and clear your throat. It is important that you speak clearly and in a tone everyone can understand.
{2} Have a sense of humor and don't be too strict and serious as you are talking. If you forget a particular word or sentence you had planned on stating, just go with the flow and be in the moment...say what you feel.
{3} Finally, have fun and keep it short & sweet. Remember that you are celebrating the newlyweds' big day. Raise your glass and wish for them to have a fabulous life together!
